Although the global COVID-19 pandemic has been rampant, a survey by Michael Page shows that Taiwan’s recruitment market is stable compared to other regions in the Asia-Pacific, with over 50% of companies planning to expand their workforce this year, and 72% of these companies are expecting to increase their workforce by 1% to 10%.
Compared to the past where permanent staff were primarily recruited, companies now need more specialized contract employees to fill skill gaps caused by long-term (organizational restructuring) or temporary (employee leave, urgent projects) needs. This not only reduces the crises and costs faced by companies but also enhances the flexibility in staffing and resource allocation.
However, in a rapidly changing environment, in addition to the large and fast recruitment needs, finding suitable talent is also a significant issue in recruitment. For companies, the most commonly used talent attraction strategies include career development, salary conditions, corporate reputation, workplace culture, and the company’s use of technology. For job seekers, in addition to salary and benefits, job scope and responsibilities, workplace culture, career development opportunities, and corporate reputation are factors for accepting a job offer. Reducing the back-and-forth communication, repetitive tasks, and contact processes during the application experience, increasing the efficiency of the recruitment process, and even offering job opportunities that interest the candidates can all help enhance the interview experience.
The advent of artificial intelligence and automation may solve the challenges faced by companies (large, rapid, and precise recruitment needs) while also meeting the job seekers’ expectations for a high-efficiency recruitment process. Through automated interview processes, not only can the limitations of time and place be overcome, thus improving interview efficiency, but machine learning can also analyze various information about the job seekers to help companies identify suitable talent or assist job seekers in finding appropriate jobs.
